How Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Howie Lost 14 Lbs!

Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Lost 14 Lbs! – Discover How He Did It – Read on…

______________________________________________________________________

YouTube Preview Image

Howie has been a member of Fit Figure Boot Camp for a few months and it seems like he lost a big chunk of himself practically overnight.

Howie (a 57 year old with high blood pressure) was the first male member of Fit Figure Boot Camp and I am super happy for him.

He was nice enough to share his secrets for dropping 2 pant sizes and 14 pounds – update – it’s now 16 lbs :)

And… DRUM ROLL…he’s off his blood pressure meds for the first time in a year!

When I asked Howie what “clicked” that he decided to really get serious – he said that he figured he was spending all this time going to the indoor fitness boot camp in Scarsdale and sweating and investing in the program that he would be a fool to just ignore the other side of fitness and body transformation – DIET…so he decided to stop eating crap! (how simple yet genius)

Here is a blueprint of what Howie is doing right NOW that is helping him shed pounds…

the blueprint How Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Howie Lost 14 Lbs!

Howie always eats BEFORE he comes to boot camp (a smart move as the body needs FUEL to have a good workout, especially involving resistance training like weights, bands and body-weight exercises)

Breakfast – Howie chooses between 3 breakfasts

oatmeal sign How Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Howie Lost 14 Lbs!

- Greek yogurt

- oatmeal with flaxseeds (Go Howie!!!) or if he has time…

- an egg white omelet with feta cheese and salsa along with a tall glass of water.

Lunch – he keeps this simple – he goes for a grilled chicken salad (dressing on the side), or sometimes a protein based soup like lentil.

grilled chicken with salad How Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Howie Lost 14 Lbs!

Lunch was the biggest problem for Howie as he used to mindlessly eat or pick bad foods and snacks during that “2:30″ feeling. He no longer had burgers with fries and has avoided pizza as much as possible.

Dinner – Howie never knows if he is dining out or staying at home so he keeps things simple by doing one of 2 things.

stop eating poster How Scarsdale Boot Camp Member Howie Lost 14 Lbs!

If he attends the evening Scarsdale boot camp, then he just has something real light like a Greek yogurt with berries…and if he is at a restaurant he just make smart choice and cuts his meal in half and takes the other half home.

I asked Howie for 2 final statements that he would like to share that he feels would help others lose weight  and he said…

“avoid or limit alcohol and stop the mindless eating” – wise words from The “H” man!

Side note: during the 16 pound weight loss over the last 8 weeks Howie has hardly touched alcohol.

I would love your comments – so give Howie a “way to go” in the comments section below so when he reads this – he will feel the love :)

Go ahead…fill out the form below and tell Howie how awesome he is!!!

A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy

A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy

HappyHalloween1 300x210 A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy

Most Scarsdale Personal Trainers may say something unrealistic like “don’t eat candy this weekend” or have fruit instead. Come ON! Let’s be serious – everyone is gonna have some candy this Halloween weekend but there is a difference between being smart and allowing yourself to cheat a little and legally losing your damn mind!

First, know the goal:

road to success 300x284 A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and CandyThe goal THIS weekend is to MAINTAIN your current weight, not to lose weight – that’s too much pressure.

It’s like the stock market, when it’s bad, all ya want to do is break even right?

So on holiday weekends the goal is to just not go backwards away from goals.

You do that – and you’re a champ!

Second, choose your vice:

Whatever it is you like the MOST, stick with that. If it’s Lolly-pops, have those…if it’s Starburst or gummy bears, stick with that. Try to have no more than 500 calories worth of crapola. Our Scarsdale personal trainers can wipe that out in 1 boot camp workout so no biggie!

Third, move a little more:

Since you know you’re gonna be a little bad, just make a decision to walk it off or jog it off by adding 1 burn calories not electricity1 150x150 A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy“extra” workout this weekend. For example, take a 20-30 minute power-walk with a friend before breakfast or after lunch, or add another Scarsdale boot camp workout in this upcoming week to make-up for the sweets.

This is the kinda stuff ya gotta do to be successful not only with weight loss but with everything. Maximize your efforts and minimize damage! That’s what it takes :)

Fourth, throw out all the junk when it’s over:

This is real simple. Throw out all the remaining candy and crap or give it to a neighbor that you can’t stand. Be a mean girl LOL!

neighbors 300x199 A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy

Finally, don’t feel guilty that you cheated the next day:

I’m not gonna get into why cheating a little (NOT going nuts) is ACTUALLY a good thing for the dieter but it is.

Physically it’s good because after dieting and cutting calories for a while, the body starts to recognize the deprivation and it tries to hold onto calories (in the form of stored body fat) in fear of famine.

Now every now and again when you cheat, you are sending  signal to the body that says “Hey body, don’t worry…I am not starving you so enjoy this little cheat my friend”.

The hormone Leptin (when released) helps the body to burn fat and when we diet for too long, we decrease our Leptin levels, so give your body a little food jolt every now and again. It will HELP you burn more fat – sounds contradictory but it’s true.

Mentally we also need a break from dieting don’t we? I mean, if you knew every week you could have your favorite cheat meal or your favorite dessert, you would be able to eat good the rest of the week wouldn’t you?

It’s when we say something like, “I’m never eating (fill in the blank) again”, is when we get into trouble.

never say never1 300x230 A Scarsdale Personal Trainers Take on Halloween and Candy

Human nature tells us we automatically want what we can’t have sometimes so don’t say “NEVER” cuz then that’s all you will want. It’s negative to say never and it’s negative to say D.I.E.T. (I mean who can like a word that has the word die in it)

I’m not about punishing…I’m about REWARDING…it’s more positive and it leads to a happier lifestyle and a pleasant journey on you way to weight loss, fitness and health!

So go have a safe Halloween and ENJOY yourself – you deserve it!
