5 Tips For Weekend Weight Loss
So you just busted your butt during the week with fat-burning work-outs, you ate pretty good Monday through Friday afternoon, your belief that you can actually DO IT this time is strong and then it happens…
the weekend comes, structure goes out the window, friends and family take over and before you know it, all that hard work during the week gets thrown out the window. And all we have to say is “O well…I’ll start again Monday.”
Let’s not sabotage ourselves and be our own worst enemy. And since I know a lot of people like this, I’ve come up with 5 Tips For Weekend Weight Loss that will have you sticking to plan and focused EVERYDAY!
Tip #1: Pack Snacks
We all know snacking is important cuz it keeps us in a fat-burning mode and helps us with portion control come lunch and dinner. So before you go out and “let the day take you”, pack some fruit, trial mix or a south beach protein bar and a bottle of water (which will help you avoid all those high calorie sodas.)
Even if you INTEND on being only an hour or two, bring a snack anyway just in case.
Tip #2: Be active
I’m not saying go to the gym for 2 hours but I am saying that if it’s a nice day, suggest a walk in the park 30 minutes before you meet your friends for lunch.
Tell them it will be a good way to burn some calories before-hand or tell them you’ve been inside all week and you wanna get some fresh air. If you suggest it, I guarantee you some of your friends and family will feel that a walk would be nice and join you.
Tip# 3: Plan Ahead
“Those that fail to plan, plan to fail.” How true is THAT quote in LIFE ya know. So let’s say you’re going to a new Italian Restaurant at 8pm with friends and family.
Google the restaurant and look at their menu or call them up and ask them if they have “healthy” selections. Now, most respectable places these days DO have some kind of alternative so find out. You’re a lot less likely to mess up if you dine out with a plan and know what you’re gonna get. Just “set it and forget it” – you’ve got a GOAL that nobody cares about more than YOU right?
Tip #4: Keep a Weekend “WANT IT” Journal
Every nutritionist will tell you that the BEST way to identify your eating habits is to journal what and when you eat. Every trainer will tell you it’s the best way to help you lose weight along with being consistent with your exercise program.
Guess what? After 13 years of helping people lose weight, tone up and get the body of their dreams, I’ve found this to be VERY TRUE. The ones that are willing to journal for either themselves or to show their coach, are the ones that succeed quickly and forever.
I do understand this can be a little annoying to do everyday so I’m gonna suggest the WEEKEND only. This way, you can really keep your goals in the front of your mind and have the best chance at losing weight EVERY week.
Tip #5: Limit alcohol
A light beer here and there or a glass of wine for dinner most nights – NO PROBLEM…3 drinks on Friday, 1 in the afternoon on Saturday followed by 2 glasses of wine at dinner capped off with a Cosmo on Sunday night to “relax” is a big NO-NO! Not brain science here…just be smart about it.
